    • An art revolution

      Lecture / symposium, Member

For over a decade China has been producing some of the world’s most exciting contemporary art. Until now the focus has been overwhelmingly on the capital, Beijing, where art critic and lecturer John McDonald has led two successful tours. This third tour will look at the vibrant art scenes that are emerging in Taipei, Shanghai and Chengdu.

In this talk John will preview some of the attractions of these cities, including biennales in Taipei and Shanghai, and a host of new museums. As well as the established attractions of these very different regions, we’ll look at the work of leading artists and organise studio visits. Forget the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the Entombed Warriors, this is where the new wave of Chinese art is breaking.

John will be leading the Art Gallery Society’s tour China: an art revolution in October/November this year. Find out more
