    • With Dr Jessica Priebe

      Lecture / symposium

Beginning with the early Greek and Roman investigations into human health and wellbeing, this series looks at the representation of the anatomised body in the converging histories of Western art and medicine.

Each week Dr Jessica Priebe will explore a different aspect of the body as anatomical fact. Topics include the secret dissections carried out by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt’s anatomy portraits, Hogarth and Rowlandson’s satirical prints on cruelty, and the role of photography in mapping the bodies of the hysterical and the criminally insane as well as eugenics and the post-human body.
