      Lecture / symposium

To mark the launch of the Berkshire dictionary of Chinese biography, editor-in-chief Kerry Brown discusses why making sense of China’s vast histories can be made easier by focusing on the tales of figures from its long past in the fields of politics, art and science.

Professor Kerry Brown is currently executive director of the China Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. The book is an accessible, vivid account of how modern China was formed from different dynastic and cultural strands. It includes contributions from internationally respected scholars of China, many of them from Australia.
