Hugh Belsey is senior research fellow at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, London, and is a renowned expert on the paintings of Thomas Gainsborough. While in Sydney, Hugh will research the Gallery’s painting by Gainsborough, The Reverend Samuel Kilderbee. The Society is delighted that he will also present a lecture for members, titled A Long Apprenticeship: Thomas Gainsborough’s early work, giving insights into the life and times of this legendary British artist.
