    '... it was the idea of a grove, prepared for some sort of event, and a pathway leading you into what may happen', James Gleeson 27 August 2002.

    A study for this drawing is in the AGNSW's Gleeson 'Sketchbook 3' and is remarkably similar to the larger drawing and painting. This is typical of Gleeson's working method. From the start he has a very clear overall image, which he elaborates and enlarges, but rarely alters radically.
