Yu Youren (1878-1964), a notable member of the Kuomintang National Party, was an educator and politician in the Republic of China. He served as the first president of Shanghai University in the 1920s. He is best known for his calligraphy and is regarded as one of China's modern masters. His works are in a cursive and semi-cursive manner and are intensely animated as demonstrated by this example.
