  • About

Tim Jones was born in Wales and arrived in Australia in 1983. He studied Painting and Printmaking in the UK, with further studies in Sculpture, and a MA (Research) in Melbourne (Victoria College of the Arts and Monash). He works primarily as a printmaker and sculptor, and has taught in various Victorian tertiary institutions since 1991.

Jones' prints are inspired by the work of English romantic visionary William Blake, especially his finely-wrought wood engravings. His imagery of trees and sparse woodland is stylised, with strong black and white contrast lending it dramatic impact, and atmospheric use of light and shade. His work alludes to the literary tradition of wood engraving, with images suggesting theatre and narrative.
