About
This printmaker, active in Munich around 1500, is the author of twenty-two recorded engravings, each of which is signed with the initials MZ. The scene depicted here takes place inside the ducal palace of Albrecht IV of Bavaria. Three couples promenade to the music of a fife and drum, played in the balcony on the left. Below the balcony a guard drives away a curious crowd from the door with a staff. The couple playing cards has been identified as Albrecht IV, Duke of Bavaria and his wife, Kunigunde of Austria.
