After Christo and Jeanne-Claude immigrated to New York in 1964, Christo began a series of Show Window and Store Front works. Using found remnants from demolished buildings and scrap heaps, Christo curtained their glass facades with fabric or paper to deny their function of transparency and display. As with his packages and other hidden objects, these works tantalise the viewer, replacing visual resolution with sculptural form.
