HSC study days
For Year 11 students from Low Socio-economic Status (Low SES) School Communities and schools from the following NSW regions:
- Western Sydney
- South Western Sydney
- Hunter/Central Coast
- Illawarra and South East
This full-day program focuses on approaches to Section 1 and 2 of the HSC Visual Arts written examination, specifically addressing and investigating questions from the paper.
It will also familiarise teachers and students with the Gallery’s collection as a valuable resource for the Stage 6 syllabus.
This year, our HSC Study Days will be held on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 November, and include entry to the exhibition Pop to popism.

Welcome and introduction
The Gallery’s coordinator of secondary education programs, Leeanne Carr, will discuss approaches to Section 1 of the HSC Visual Arts 2014 written paper
The Gallery’s educators will discuss approaches to Section 2 of the HSC Visual Arts 2014 written paper using examples from the Gallery’s collection. Students will move through the Gallery, exploring a range of art periods, styles and media.
The Gallery’s coordinator of outreach programs, Louise Halpin, will lead exercises and activities designed to support students in their approach to the written exam.
