Josef Albers (1888–1976) was a German-born American artist whose work, both in Europe and in the United States, formed the basis of some of the most influential and far-reaching art education programs of the 20th century. His influence fell heavily on American artists of the late 1950s and 60s. Albers’ connection to Sydney is via Harry Seidler, who was a student of Albers. Dominik Mersch Gallery will show works from the Seidler collection, as well as footage of Seidler’s and Albers’ relationship.
