In chaos comes happiness, with indulgence despair
HSC year: 2011, ARTEXPRESS year: 2012
Expressive form: Painting
My abstract paintings explore the duality of happiness and despair, contrasting those who live in indulgence with those who live in chaos. Panel one reflects chaos and happiness, represented through passionate movements and vibrant colours, while being linked to the stillness and purity of panel two. Panel three highlights despair and indulgence, represented through dark, ominous colours and structured, restricted forms, while being linked to the black zip of panel two. The zips of panel two highlight that this duality is not black and white, but a complex concept that needs deep exploration.
