Dobell Prize for Drawing 1993
There were 700 drawings entered in the inaugural Dobell Prize for Drawing in 1993, which were judged by a guest judge, artist Arthur Boyd. The winning work by Kevin Connor was much lauded but somewhat controversial at the time, as it is a drawing in brush and black ink with white gouache and hence rather painterly. However, what constitutes a drawing was deliberately not outlined in the conditions of entry.
