Marc De Jong Supermarket
oil on canvas
Supermarket is a ubiquitous scene from reality that is surreal, complex, unnatural, loaded with meaning and very seldom painted. It presents the anonymity of the consumer and a sense of anytime, anyplace that is so common to such commercialised public spaces. It is part of a series of contemporary Australian landscapes that consist of sourced images from the internet, television and newspapers, pixilated and then dot painted.
