Amanda Seddon Tautotnta (Taftotia)

oil on linen

34 x 85 cm (5 pieces)

I am currently completing my masters in fine arts at the National Art School. My work investigates mass media and social and political themes as a starting point.

Symbolism is always an important factor in creating any image or piece of work, and I am quite open to different interpretations of these symbols.

This particular series is a zoological portraiture project dealing with identity. The title is Greek for identity, ταυτότητα, and is pronounced taftotia. There is always a strong nod to the history of painting and portraiture in my work.
