Tim Johnson has made a significant contribution to Australian art over the last 40 years. Featuring key works from the 1970s to today, Tim Johnson: Painting Ideas explores the humanist conceptual project underpinning the artist’s practice, his engagement with Indigenous culture and collaboration, and his search for spiritual meaning influenced by Buddhist and other philosophies. This book is published in association with the major retrospective exhibition organised by the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) and the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG). Co-curated by Wayne Tunnicliffe, Senior Curator, Contemporary Art, AGNSW; and Julie Ewington, Curatorial Manager, Australian Art, QAG, the book also features contributions by Professor Roger Benjamin, Dr Donna Leslie, Dr Chris McAuliffe and Naomi Flatt.
