Ai Weiwei is one of the more provocative and important figures at work today in the vibrant field of contemporary Chinese art. Published in conjunction with his first exhibition in Japan, this book features some thirty important pieces, including Snake Ceiling, a new work commemorating the school children who lost their lives in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake disaster. Alongside colour images of works featured in the exhibition, the catalogue also includes black and white photographs taken by the artist while he was residing in New York. Accompanied by several essays and biographic notes, the book also includes a CD-ROM featuring all of Ai Weiwei's architectural works realised between 1999 and 2009.
