Contemporary Collection Benefactors

The Contemporary Collection Benefactors supports the acquisition of contemporary Australian art for the Gallery’s collection.

Funds raised by the CCB have been used to purchase work by noted contemporary practitioners including Brook Andrew, Mikala Dwyer, Shaun Gladwell, Bill Henson, Fiona Hall, Callum Morton and Ricky Swallow.

Other acquisitions financed by CCB funds include such major collection works as James Angus’s Bugatti type 35 2006, Hossein Valamanesh’s Middle path 2008, Kathy Temin’s My monument: black garden 2010-11 and, in conjunction with the Art Gallery Society of NSW’s Contempo Group, Janet Laurence’s The memory of nature 2010.

CCB is now in its 21st year having been formed in 1993. It is the Gallery’s largest and most active benefactor group, passionate about contemporary art and culture. CCB members enjoy a close connection to the Gallery and are offered a program of events that includes curator-led tours of our contemporary exhibitions, private and corporate collection viewings, and visits to artists’ studios and to national art fairs and cultural events such as the Adelaide Biennial and the Asia Pacific Triennial.
