On the eastern side of Sydney’s CBD, next to the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Domain, just down the road from St Mary’s Cathedral.
Getting here on foot
About 5 minutes walk from Macquarie Street, across the Domain, or from Hyde Park.
Getting here by public transport
Bus 441: departs from the York Street side of Queen Victoria Building and drops off near the Gallery. This bus route is still operating, despite recent changes to buses in the Sydney CBD. For timetable information, see Transport Buses website
Train: St James and Martin Place stations are both about 10 minutes walk.

Art After Hours courtesy bus
On Wednesdays for Art After Hours, a courtesy bus departs from the Gallery entrance every 15 minutes from 7pm until closing for the Domain Car Park, Martin Place, Wynyard and Town Hall.

Bicycles: racks at the Gallery’s main entrance.
Meter parking: on Art Gallery Road, Mrs Macquaries Road and other streets around the Gallery.
Parking stations: several near the Gallery, including the Domain Car Park which offers $6 off casual parking after the first hour Monday to Friday if your parking ticket is stamped at the Gallery’s (offer subject to the terms and conditions displayed in the car park, not valid on special event days, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer).
Buses: drop-off and pick-up zone at the Gallery’s main entrance but no dedicated parking spaces.
There is another entrance/exit at the rear of the building for deliveries and as alternative access for visitors with disability. This is reached via the signed service road on the southern side of the building, leading to security gates. Press the intercom for access.

Rear entrance via Yiribana Gallery
Sometimes, visitors will be directed to enter through the Yiribana Gallery at the rear of the building, following the path in front of the 'matchsticks’ sculpture – Brett Whiteley and Matthew Dillon’s Almost once. There is no vehicular access, except for previously authorised vehicles.
