Australian: Art Gallery of NSW lets you explore a selection of artists and artworks from our Australian collection, on an iPad. View high-quality images in extraordinary detail, discover stories of the artists and the art, get simple explanations of art terms, and go behind the scenes with interviews and videos.

All the works in the app formed part of the first display in our newly refurbished Australian galleries, which opened 12 May 2012.

The Australian app is designed to complement the Contemporary app, which focuses on the Australian and international collection from the 1980s onwards, including the John Kaldor Family Collection.

You can explore the app on iPads in our Art Lounge in the Australian galleries.

The Gallery’s Australian app is available free on the App Store. It works with all versions of the iPad. An internet connection is needed to view some content. As new content is added, the app will automatically prompt you about updates.
