Jane Asher Deceased estate

The ‘deceased estate’ in my body of work is the decrepit, abandoned home of my grandparents, which retains an imprint of its past inhabitants’ life through forgotten possessions and its distinctive atmosphere. Telling symbols in the book provide insight into the lives of the past inhabitants, while the video showcases the abandonment of the house, transitioning from nostalgic to sorrowful to unnerving, depending on the time of day and perspective of the image. This is a final farewell to the childhood home of my mother and her siblings. I hope those who have experienced this loss find consolation in my images.
