My body of work explores the notion of memory and the construction of gender stereotypes within society. I use little girls’ dresses and one lone boy outfit to typify society’s constraints and the simplification of labelling individuals. Scientific illustrative techniques reinforce the use of classification and the idea of retaining ideology in its simplest form. The title Memento vita literally translates as ‘remember life’, a reference to my childhood and the association between play, innocence and joy.
