Book Launch: Tom Polo
Artist talk followed by a book signing
Art After Hours, Exhibition talk
Join the Gallery’s head curator of international art Justin Paton and Sydney artist Tom Polo for a conversation about Polo’s art and new book Paris drawings: The most elaborate disguise.
On view as part of the exhibition The National 2019 is Polo’s series of painted imaginary portraits called The most elaborate disguise. Created while on residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2016, these works are both pointed and playful.
Published by Perimeter Editions in partnership with STATION, Paris drawings is drawn from this body of work. Featuring 48 portraits and an essay by Justin Paton, Polo’s debut book reveals much about his distinctive, mildly idiosyncratic approach to drawing, painting and the portrait.
A book signing will follow the talk in the Gallery shop.
