Celebrity talk: Brenda L Croft and guests
Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2013
Art After Hours, Celebrity talk
Brenda L Croft is a Gurindji/Malngin/Mudpurra artist, curator and academic and a founding member of the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative. She has held many solo shows and been represented in numerous major national and international exhibitions. Her works are often biographical and explore her experience of growing up in the suburbs of Perth with an Aboriginal father and non-Aboriginal mother.
Brenda’s images were created during key moments in Sydney’s social and political history. Tonight Brenda is joined by some of the people who have been subjects in her photographs to explore the context in which the photographs were taken and to reflect on the ways in which things may have changed, or not, since then. This discussion will be facilitated by Daniel Browning.
Daniel is an Aboriginal journalist and radio broadcaster from the Bundjalung and Kullilli people. He produces and presents Awaye!, the Indigenous art and culture program on ABC Radio National. Daniel has also guest-edited several specialist Indigenous issues of Artlink.
