En plein air painting BOOKED OUT
Workshop with artist Luke Sciberras
Led by artist Luke Sciberras, this workshop is offered as an enrichment for intermediate painters. It will be based on Luke Sciberras’s practice as a landscape artist with reference to John Russell.
Students will hear from Sciberras about his pilgrimage to Belle Île to pay homage to John Russell and take a short tour of the exhibition. Russell had a home on Belle Île, off the coast of Brittany, for 20 years and it was there that he committed to exploring impressionism. The exhibition tour will be followed by the workshop en plein air just outside the gallery with intriguing viewpoints of Sydney.
Luke Sciberras is a two-time finalist in the Wynne Prize. His exhibition Belle Île: Luke Sciberras and Euan Macleod is currently on at Manly Art Gallery and Museum. The exhibition showcases paintings by both artists from their recent expedition to Belle Île, off the coast of Brittany, France.
All materials, stools and easels will be supplied. A full list of materials will be supplied when booking.
Please wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and bring a hat, water and your lunch or buy it at the Gallery.
