    • Changing the refrain: creativity and the idea of learning

      Lecture / symposium

Anna Cutler, Director of Learning at Tate, delivers a keynote lecture in her only public Sydney appearance. A fascinating thinker, who has radically reshaped the way the Tate addresses creative learning, she is sure to inspire artists, teachers, museum professionals and art lovers alike.

Since 2010, Anna has led the vision, strategy and delivery model for learning across all of Tate’s gallery sites and through her leadership, the museum now seeks to work with visitors in new ways, using new approaches. Seven million visitors come to Tate every year, and one in every seven engages with a learning program. A further 18 million connect through Tate Online.

In 2006, Tate Modern announced a new building development scheduled for completion in December 2015. This project includes a wide range of spaces for new kinds of learning and curatorial activity. Tate Exchange is one such space and an idea that is fundamental to the changing shape of the museum and its relationship with its audiences in the future.

In her lecture, Anna will speak about her approach to creative learning and outline how these ideas have taken her on the journey to ‘Tate Exchange’.
