Artist Blak Douglas and Aboriginal rights activist Vanessa Turnbull-Roberts speak with Yumi Stynes to discuss ideas of sovereignty and the ways they celebrate and amplify First Nations voices through their work and creative practice.

This has been an extraordinary year for each of them, with Vanessa leading thousands of Sydneysiders in protest against Indigenous deaths in custody and in support of the global Black Lives Matter movement, and Blak Douglas becoming a finalist in this year’s Archibald Prize for the fourth time, with his striking portrait of Dujuan Hoosan, star of the documentary ‘In my blood it runs’.

Art After Hours Online is proudly supported by Art Gallery Society of NSW and Macquarie University.
