Art Gallery of NSW curator Deborah Edwards introduces the exhibition Rupert Bunny: artist in Paris. Bunny was Australia’s most cosmopolitan and successful painter in Paris in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a decorative colourist whose work ranged from mythologies and religious paintings to landscapes, portraits and belle-epoque visions of women at leisure and whose influences included symbolism, orientalism, fauvism and late pre-raphaelistism.
