About
This is a 17th to 18th century plate with landscape painting, most likely from southern China. The characters of the poem are out of order, but refer to searching for plum blossoms through the snow. The components of the image are stock motifs, and the poem is well known and is also used in landscape paintings. The mark on the base reads literally “play jade.”
