About
An identical safe engraved with the words 'Safe Art' was made in Sydney in 1980 by the artist with the CMI Safe Company. 'Safe art' was included in significant exhibitions in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney in the early 1980s. In 1989 'Safe art' was donated by the artist to the Art Gallery of NSW where it was subsequently mislaid. 'Unsafe art' was commissioned from the artist in 2015.
