  • About

'Pressing wool bales' 1886-1891 shows the 'boss of the boards' in a typical pose of the shearing manager. The shearers in this photograph are the embodiment of hard masculine labour. It is an image which depicts social rank and was commissioned by the owner of the property. 'Pressing wool bales' ennobles the bushworker, a fundamental part of the great pastoral tradition in the nineteenth century.
