About
In the 1970s Ken Unsworth began to make small-scale objects and maquettes that were used to test ideas and materials for full-scale sculptures. 'Stone arch' 1985 evokes what Unsworth has referred to as ‘that balance between logic and intuition’. With its glass plates and found river stones, the work can be seen as a meeting point between Unsworth’s logical and expressive tendencies. While the manmade glass plates fan towards the sky, the stones form a grounded arch, reminiscent of ancient structures. Their radiating arcs intersect in perfect balance.
