Art centre documentation for this work states:
“On this pot I have depicted Tnyam-iparta (8 Mile Outstation), my grandfather and grandmother were living there with my father and my uncles and aunties. They were living in tin houses at this time in the 60s and 70s, the houses would get really hot and really cold. They built brick houses later on when I was a kid. They would plant vegetables and grass out the front in a fenced off garden. They would watch my grandfather and learn how to break in horses. The new generation would learn how to break in horses from old stockmen and missionaries in Hermannsburg. People would walk and ride horses everywhere.”
