About
Joe Furlonger studied in Queensland and Sydney between 1973 and 78 and has lived and worked in Queensland since then. He was awarded the second Moet & Chandon Fellowship in 1988-89, and has exhibited in Australia and abroad since the mid 1980s. He is best known as an expressive painter and draughtsman.
Furlonger made a number of prints this year while in Europe, firstly at the Atelier Franck Bordas in Paris (www.aterlierbordas.com) where he produced a series of lithographs of the subject of the circus, and then in Berlin, where he worked with Lutz Nessing. Furlonger and Nessing, a third generation letterpress master printer, collaborated to produce 200 unique woodblock prints, each coloured and printed differently, on South East Queensland landscapes, inspired by drawings in Furlonger's sketchbook.
