About
In Li Jin’s Room for love, the sadness and disconnection expressed through the posture and faces of the couple, and their forlorn dog, seem to contradict the title of the work. The text beside them is an extract from a poem by Qing calligrapher He Shaoji (1799–1873) which expresses longing for spring and for love. The delicate ink wash colour and calculated distance between the couple and the furniture add to the dejected tension of the domestic setting.
