  • About

In the 'Sandy Bay Set' Rees effectively charted the sensation of light passing on one sunlit day over the River Derwent in Hobart, an experience he particularly enjoyed from the picture window of his son's house in the Hobart suburb of Sandy Bay overlooking the Derwent. It was the subject of many paintings, drawings and pastels in the last years of his life, but perhaps most succinctly realized in this series of colour lithographs.
