About
From either side of the composition the kings' cortège winds its way towards the Christ Child through a fantastical landscape dotted with antique monuments. The engraving is based on a drawing by Baldassare Peruzzi, made in Bologna in c.1523 for Count Giovanni Battista Bentivoglio (now in the British Museum). The gallery's engraving lacks the upper section showing God in heaven surrounded by angels.
