Further information

This intricately brocaded cloth is woven with an indigo warp and red weft with a dense banded pattern of metallic silver supplementary weft weave ('songket'). The colours used in this cloth are significant, probably derived from the red, black and white threads which are woven together, to represent the unity or integrity of divergent or conflicting forces.
