  • About

This work belongs to Baldessari’s 2010 series titled Sediment and was exhibited in Sediment (Part 2) at Marian Goodman Gallery in 2010. The artist uses a palette of black, white and grey to render objects, shadows and silhouettes in a bold, graphic style. Fragments selected from photographs are reduced to simple shapes and arranged in a way that both alludes to and ignores the relationship between figure and object. In Sediment (Part Two): Fur, Dress and Column the figure disolves completely into negative space, with only the vague outline of hand and arm hinting at their presence.
