Further information

There are relatively few images of bushfire in Australian art - the best known are Strutt's 'Black Thursday' (1864) and Fred Williams' bushfire drawings and gouaches. Angus Nivison's painting and this related work on paper are powerful and memorable contemporary equivalents.
