About
This distinctive indigo-dyed textile is decorated in a very tight and organic, yet stylised design. The most distinctive motif decorating this textile is the symmetrical fanned design symbolic of the mythical eagle known as the Garuda (sometimes identified as the 'mirong'). In this context, the Garuda represents the celestial realm, the heavenly realm of the cosmic mountain. Such cosmic patterns are usually associated with royalty.
