About
Monumental figures are the predominant feature in Graham Fransella’s recent work - 'Figure on beach II' is one of a number of very large, multi-sheet prints with the human figure as their central focus. Fransella applied sugar-lift aquatint with a brush, resulting in broad, painterly strokes forming the image, the final composition enriched by accidental marks made on the etching plates, which were retained deliberately for their pleasing visual effect.
