About
Kimura Yoshiro is based in Hiroshima and has exhibited at numerous shows in Japan and abroad and has won prizes at the Exhibition of Japanese Traditional Arts and Crafts for 28 consecutive years since 1976. He has also exhibited and held workshops overseas for bodies such as the Japan Foundation and his works are held in numerous public collections, including the Japan Foundation, the Imperial Household Agency (Bunkacho), the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art; the V&A; the Sevres National Museum of Ceramic Art, and the Faenza Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche. The donated vessel is flawlessly thrown and bears his characteristic brilliant aquamarine glaze with an effect of waves created by a rippling decorative technique which he calls 'renmon'.
