About
Agatha Gothe-Snape works across many mediums, from performances and slide shows to diagrams, scores and socially-activated situations. Her works typically respond to the various dimensions of a given context - social, spatial, historical - bringing these into focus through gestures that draw on her interest in improvisation. 'Text Work and Line Work' is based on a 'found' statement, encountered in daily life and transposed into the gallery space. In its new setting, the strident instruction frames the behaviours and attitudes that are inscribed into institutional spaces and enacted (or occasionally destabilised) by the audience.
