  • About

Tony Schwensen was a key figure in the '90s Sydney grunge movement and is known for his deadpan, conceptual works that address aspects of identity, masculinity and the suburban experience, as well the physical limits of the (unconditioned) body. As is typical of grunge, Schwensen's work of this period are characterised by a low-key, DIY aesthetic. The works in enamel paint on paper likewise demonstrate his preference for using materials at hand in ways that are direct, unaffected, and convey a sense of immediacy.
