About
Plate 283 from the 'Célébrités de La Caricature' ('Celebrities from La Caricature') series, published in 'La Caricature', no 136, 13 June 1833.
Charles Guillaume Étienne (1777–1845) was a well-known journalist and founder of the newspaper L'Indépendent, later named Le Constitutionnel, which became the government organ. His influence was remarkable, since newspaper reading at that time was an institution, not an amusement.
