  • About

ZHANG Erkang, a native of Wanping (presently south of Beijing), was a painter active during the late 19th century. His life is sketchy, but he is known for his copies of Dai Xi’s (1801-1860) paintings. Sometimes these works were inscribed with Zhang’s own name; on other occasions they were simply forged as Dai’s paintings, which were considered too close to Dai’s brush work to distinguish.
