    This Amsterdam based printmaker continued to specialize in woodcuts at a time when the technique had declined in prestige and become outdated. Although this print reproduces a drawing by Hendrick Goltzius its ultimate inspiration is Dürer’s famous woodcut portrait of Emperor Maximilian I made around 1518.
