About
Drawing and painting on paper is an ongoing aspect of Christopher Hodges practice, which he values for its intrinsic qualities, and not just a platform for formulating ideas. This work captures the simplified form, geometry and flattened space that is characteristic of his cut metal sculptures, revealing his interest in exploring the interface between surface and space.
While this work shares the shallow picture plane of classic minimalism, it also celebrates the materiality of its mediums, with the subtle effects and variations of the semi-translucent acrylic wash on paper as important as the colour and form of the composition.
