Further information

Liu was a part-time artist of the corps in the early 1970s. This was painted as an official order aiming at promoting the most famous song of the Red Army called ‘Three important disciplines and eight notes’ composed in the 1930s. The song lists all the disciplines which the soldiers of the Red Army must observe, and which had helped them earn support from the people. The title of the song and part of the verse appears in the upper part of the image.
